“WE THE PEOPLE” of God vs. the Obamanation, Part II
by Providence Crowder
Obama has promised millions of Americans “free” or “affordable” healthcare. And working toward this goal, Obama signed into law the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare on March 22, 2011. Healthcare has been defined as the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, illness, injury and other physical and mental impairments in humans. What American wouldn’t want free healthcare?
There are several problems with Obama’s plan for affordable healthcare for all but I desire only to expose the threats to religious liberty and freedom that are before us—what the Obama administration has done and is doing. It is our moral obligation as Christians and our civic duty as Americans to speak out on the atrocities of the Obama administration because only a moral and well-informed electorate will elect moral and principled leaders.
If Christians would speak God’s truths with one loud and resounding voice, come November, voters should have no excuse not to vote Obama out! Thomas Jefferson once said, “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”
Obamacare is bad law and an abuse of governmental authority, furthermore, it is the huge tax burden placed upon the American people. This type of heavy and unrestrained governmental taxation is a form of oppression and bondage.
It is also essential that every American understands that ObamaCare mandates threaten conscience rights and access to care for all—it tramples on religious liberty—it violates the first amendment. This is not only a Christian concern; guarding the first amendment is the responsibility of all Americans. David Limbaugh wrote about the Affordable Care Act and had this to say about it:
“This law (Obamacare) . . . provides no protection for medical workers who have moral or religious objections to dispensing abortifacients such as Plan B, Ella or other emergency abortion causing contraception. The administration blatantly ignores the scientific evidence that certain controversial prescriptions that abortion advocates promote as contraception are actually potential abortifacients, ending the life of a living, developing human embryo. This attack on the people of faith in the medical community diminishes their civil rights.
As a result of this administrations blatant disregard for religious liberty, as granted by God and re-affirmed by our constitution, we will lose many conscience-oriented healthcare professionals and hurt many faith-based institutions. According to Limbaugh, the results of a national survey reveals: 90 percent of faith-based physicians say they would leave the medical profession before performing a procedure that violates their conscience. This great loss will adversely impact the poor and patients in medically underserved areas.
Abraham Lincoln once said, “WE THE PEOPLE are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts, not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow men who would pervert the constitution.” Obama must go and WE MUST REPEAL OBAMACARE.
Concerning traditional marriage, President Obama refuses to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) although the majority of the American people support it.
Archbishop Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said, “Our federal government should not be presuming ill intent or moral blindness on the part of the overwhelming majority of its citizens, millions of whom have gone to the polls to directly support DOMA’s (defense of marriage acts) in their states and have thereby endorsed marriage as the union of man and woman.”
President Obama has actively worked to promote abortion: he has defunded abstinence programs and has allowed federal funds to be used to fund abortions and contraception. He further believes that if his daughters “made a mistake,” then they should not be “punished with a baby.” But Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston Houston and chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities reminds us that:
“Pregnancy is not disease and children are not a health problem—they are the next generation of Americans.”
We as Christians must remain vocal, and not be afraid of this administration, or its allies—the enemy or his tactics—we serve a God who is victorious over sin and has given us a way which is right. We have nothing to fear because we are armed with truth—this truth has no agenda, but it will set you free.
With another four years with Obama at the helm, how long will America remain, “One nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for all?” I shudder to think.
